What is Nova Connect and Who is Behind it
In this short blog, you'll learn all about who we are, what we are, and what we value at the Nova Connect team. You'll also learn a little about our parent company, Darkan Technologies.
What is Nova Connect?
Nova Connect is simply a plan app that allows you to swipe through plans in your area. Those plans are created by other users like you! When you join the app, you can swipe instantly or create a plan in under 3 minutes by simply giving it a name, adding the location, some pictures, a short description, and how many people you would like to join you. It’s incredibly simple.
When you swipe yes on a plan, you just have to wait until the creator accepts you, and you’re all set! This way, everyone is happy and safe.
The Values of Nova Connect
Our mission is to help people under 35 meet and make plans with other people quickly and efficiently. We tailored our app to the expat and international community as well as locals, focusing on leisure and entertainment plans, including NGO and university events in the future.
We focus on being highly diverse in our plans, providing social connections by offering you a community of like-minded people. We also want to be as non-committal as possible by allowing you to create and sift through plans effortlessly and quickly from the comfort of your couch.
Our Re-Launch
Since then, a lot has changed. The focus of our app shifted to aiding people in creating exciting plans and meeting new people in cities they’re not quite used to or for locals who have become too accustomed to their routines.
Our app and image went through a complete re-design. We will release the new 2.0 version on March 1st of this year! Keep an eye out on our social media to be the first to download Nova.
The Origin of Our Name
It’s simple, really. Our name originated from the Portuguese word “Nova”, which means new, and the word ‘connect’ as we aspire to facilitate long-lasting connections between individuals. The other inspiration behind the word Nova was, of course, the university where the Idea was born, NOVA School of Business and Economics.

Our Team
Right now, we’re just a tight-knit crew of 6, including—designers, developers, marketers, and our main character, Juan Alcaraz—pouring our hearts into making our app better every single day.
We’re a really diverse mix of professionals from Bogota to Valencia to Madrid to St. Petersburg. But no matter where we’re from, we’re all about giving you the best app experience possible. So, rest assured, we’re all in this together, working hard to keep things smooth and enjoyable for you.
Our parent company, Darkan Technologies, is a digital product agency that offers remote branding, web/app development, and UX/UI design services, currently with 10+ clients across Europe.
Our Plans for the Future
We plan to expand Nova Connect to every big city in Spain and eventually Europe. But the rest, for now, is a surprise. Stay tuned, and download Nova Connect on the 1st of March to see what all the fuss is about!
