Summer 2024 - What’s in Store for Nova Connect?
Here at Nova Connect and Darkan Tech, we've always valued transparency. We strive to consistently provide our users with a seamless experience and remain open about our direction and new features.

What we are right now
Before discussing our plans for the future, here’s a quick refresher on who we are and what we do.
We are Nova Connect, a user-driven app designed for quick and easy plan creation and connection. We offer a diverse array of activities for individuals under 35. Created by Darkan Technologies, we enable users to swipe through plans made by others or create their own within minutes, aiding expats and locals alike in socialising in Spain.
With a focus on non-committal and diverse socialising, we recently underwent a relaunch with a revamped design in March. Inspired by the Portuguese word “Nova,” meaning new, and founded at NOVA School of Business and Economics, our team comprises nine professionals from various backgrounds committed to enhancing the user experience.
Our current development process
Darkan Tech is currently bustling with activity, with multiple apps and websites in the works for clients + in-house, resulting in a strict app and web development pipeline. One of our significant endeavours has been the development of HiBeats, a music app that stands as Darkan’s other hero project alongside Nova Connect. This project has commanded much of Darkan Tech’s time and resources, reflecting our parent company’s commitment to delivering innovative and impactful digital solutions to our users. However, we’re excited to dedicate more time to Nova Connect and focus on improving our app to serve our community better.
Below, you can read about some of the features we are currently focusing on developing. Of course, we don’t want to reveal absolutely everything…what’s the fun in that?
New features coming
- Plan filter by interest and city.
- This feature would significantly expedite the process for users swiping to discover plans tailored to their specific interests within their city.
- Overall design improvements.
- We know our design has room to grow, but we’re excited to show you the changes and improvements we’re making to the overall design of Nova.
- Language plan filter.
- Previously, users had to sift through plan descriptions to identify their language preferences, whether English or Spanish-based. Now, they can easily filter plans based on language, streamlining the process.
This is all we’re revealing for the moment, as we’re keen to keep a few exciting features a secret.
Our bottom line
At Nova Connect, our bottom line is making life more enjoyable for expats and international students in Spain. We understand the struggles of moving to a new place and feeling left out, so we’re here to help reduce FOMO. By providing a variety of social plans beyond just bars and restaurants, we aim to broaden your horizons and give you more ways to connect with others.
Our goal is simple: to make your experience in Spain more enjoyable and fulfilling, whether you’re here for a short time or migrating permanently. We’re dedicated to helping you feel at home and connected every step of the way.
